Bookings and Payments

  • expand_moreWhat is a minimum rental period?
    Our minimum rental period is 5 days (120 hours).  You are welcome to rent the camper van for a shorter period of time, but the charge will be for 5 days.
  • expand_moreWhat's the Price Guarantee?
    It's simple. If you find a cheaper campervan in Iceland, we will match it and give you an additional 10% discount. Some restrictions apply, such as promotional prices and prices of extras. See terms and conditions for full details.
  • expand_moreCheapest campers in Iceland? What's the catch?
    Yes, if you are looking for a cheap camper in Iceland, you are in the right place. We are so confident in our low-cost campervans that we offer the low-cost guarantee if you find lower prices at other campervan rentals in Iceland. We're able to do this by minimizing operating and van-building costs, so the only "catch" is that you'll be getting a very basic campervan or "tent on wheels" as we like to call it. If that's cool with you, then it's a win-win that will help you explore Iceland and save money for other things. But we believe that you should not have to sacrifice professional service, reliability, and safety and we are confident that our brand new 2019 campers and 10+ years of experience in the campervan industry won't let you down.   • expand_moreHow can I pay for the rental?
    Simply go through our booking process above, using our booking engine. You have the option to pay a 30% booking deposit or the full amount of the rental.  We accept all major credit cards but cash is not accepted. We do require a credit card to keep on file during the rental but please contact us if you have any concerns about that. Prepaid credit cards and debit cards are accepted if the customer purchases the Premium+ insurance or the Adventure Pack.  
  • expand_moreWhat is your cancellation policy?
    We kindly ask that you cancel your booking with no less than 24-hour notice. If you cancel with less than a 24-hour notice, your booking deposit is not refundable. However, for all customers, we offer an option to reschedule your trip. We can move your booking as often and as far back as you want for no additional cost or penalty. Even if you don’t know the new dates yet. If that’s the case, simply let us know and we’ll “freeze” your booking. This will guarantee your booking for the foreseeable future and we will change your dates as soon as you provide us with your new travel dates. We are here to work with you and make sure that your trip to Iceland becomes a reality.
  • expand_moreWhy can't I book a camper on your website?
    When using our booking engine, you are getting the most up-to-date live availability of our fleet. If you get an error message saying that your preferred van category is unavailable for your dates, unfortunately, that is true. If you are flexible, we recommend trying different dates to see if the van becomes available. If you receive an error during the payment process, there are several potential reasons, including your bank blocking the transaction. Please contact us if the problem persists.

Pickup and Dropoff

  • expand_moreWhat if my flight is delayed and/or lands after the last shuttle?
    Our opening hours are from 08:00 to 17:00 and we only offer a free shuttle service to/from the airport during those hours. – If your flight lands in Iceland at 17:00 or later, we suggest finding a place to stay until we open. Just let us know about this change immediately so we can reschedule the shuttle for you. For example, if your flight arrival changed from 15:00 to 22:00, you will have to pick up your camper van at 08:00 the next day, at the earliest. There are many accommodations available in the Keflavik area. – If your flight lands before 17:00, we will wait for you to go through security. Just make sure to have scheduled an airport pick up. For example, if you land at 16:45, and miss the last shuttle, we will find somebody to pick you up. However, if your plane lands at 17:05, unfortunately, you will need to find accommodation in the area until the next day.
  • expand_moreDo you offer a free shuttle service?
    We do indeed! When you book the van, simply choose our free shuttle service and let us know your flight number. We will then pick you up at the airport and drive you to our office, located only 5 minutes away. We also offer a free shuttle to the airport when you return the van. The shuttle leaves every 60 minutes and the last shuttle leaves at 16:30. Click here for more information about the shuttle service.
  • expand_moreWhere should I wait for you at the airport?
    After you go through baggage claim and customs, you will enter the arrivals area. You can wait anywhere in that area, including the seating area nearby. Please do not wait in the departures area or at the restaurants near the departure area. When it is getting close to your scheduled shuttle time, please keep an eye out for us and let us know when you see us. We will be holding a sign with your name on it.

Extras and Insurance

  • expand_moreIs insurance included in the rental?
    Yes, a standard Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is included with all rentals but additional coverage is also available during checkout. For more info about our extra insurance options, check out our extras and insurance page.
  • expand_moreCan I choose the insurance when I pick up the camper van?
    Yes, you can. It's no problem to edit your extras, insurances, or drop-off date upon arrival. However, no changes can be made after the rental has started.
  • expand_moreWhat are the Camping Packs?
    Camping packs are a great way to save some money on extras & insurances. We offer 3 tiers (Basic, Travel, and Adventure) to fit the different needs of different campers. Check out our extras page for more details on each pack.
  • expand_moreI selected a Pack, how do I choose what extras I want?
    If you selectedBasic, Travel or Adventure pack, you do not need to select insurance or extras additionally in the booking process. You will select them upon arrival.

Office

  • expand_moreWhere do I pick up and return the van?
    Both the campervan pickup and return take place at our main office in Stapabraut 21, 260 Reykjanesbær. All of our campervan rentals begin and end at this location, so make sure to use our free shuttle service for easy transport to or from our office. We do not offer to bring the camper to you in Reykjavik, or any other location, and we also do not accept the campervan to be returned at any other location
  • expand_moreWhen/how can I contact you?
    Send us an email directly to info@cheapcampervans.is. However, we only check and respond to emails during business hours (8-17). If you need to reach us immediately, please call our office at (+354)768-7030. If you are currently traveling in Iceland in your camper and need emergency assistance, please call the emergency number provided in your handbook. If you are hurt or in danger, please call Iceland's emergency number 112 immediately.
  • expand_moreWhat are your opening hours?
    We are open from 8:00-17:00 every day. The campervan can only be picked up during our opening hours. If you arrive after 17 (5 PM) you would need to find accommodation in the area and have us pick you up the next morning.
  • expand_moreAre there any campsites near the airport?
    We opened the Happy Campsite Keflavik right in our back yard so people could rest after a long flight to Iceland or prepare for the trip home. The Happy Campsite is located only 6 min from the KEF Airport and has all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. You can find more info and book your stay here.

Campers

  • expand_moreDo you have automatic campers?
    We are a new company and constantly expand our fleet. However, as of now, all our vans are manual. If you are looking for automatic campers, check out Happy Campers.
  • expand_moreDoes the camper have a toilet and/or shower?
    No, our campers do not have a toilet or shower. Showers and travel toilets require a lot of space and are complicated to operate. But do not worry, in Iceland, there are many gas stations, small shops, and restaurants where you can use the bathroom facilities. Most campgrounds also offer good facilities for travelers to use.
  • expand_moreWhat is the size of the bed in Cheap Campervans?
    The bed size in Cheap Campervan is 120x180cm.
  • expand_moreWhat is the fuel consumption ?
    Our van’s fuel consumption/mileage is approx. 6-10 liters/100km. Fuel tank size is 50 liters
  • expand_moreWhat's included in the van?
    The Cheap Campervans van is very basic and we do that on purpose in order to keep prices down. You will get a simple bed or tent with 2 pillows. So you will get all the cost-saving benefits of traveling in a tent but also the added flexibility and convenience of a camper. For detailed descriptions of what is included check out the designated pages for specific model. None of the vehicles include a heater or running water, so please prepare accordingly.
  • expand_moreWhere can we park overnight?
    Icelandic law prohibits parking overnight in a campervan outside of organized campsites. Thankfully, Iceland has LOTS of beautiful campsites all over the country and there are many online and offline resources that have more information about these campsites, such as tjalda.is
  • expand_moreDo you offer 3 or 4-person campers?
    We do not have campers that sleep 3 or more people.
